Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What are we coaching?
The camp focuses on middle and high school tournament events. We offer extensive coaching in both Foreign and Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking, Original Oratory, Public Forum Debate, Congressional Debate (a new addition to middle school tournaments), and Lincoln Douglas Debate (for high school campers only). While we recognize that events like reader's theatre, lip sync, storytelling, etc. are offered at the middle school level, our focus is on preparing middle school students for events they can continue in high school.
Where is camp?
Camp will be hosted at Plano West Senior High School:
5601 W Parker Rd
Plano, TX 75093
How much does camp cost?
The cost is a $250.00 participation fee per student for BOTH middle and high school debate camps. Payment is completed through PayPal. Students who have not paid the participation fee will NOT be eligible to enroll.
What do I bring to camp?
We recommend that campers come prepared with the following:
Laptop (and charger)*
Plenty of paper
*NOTE: We do not require that everyone buy their own laptop for camp. However, we highly recommend it given most middle school and high school competitors use laptops to organize their debate files.
Lunch will be from 12:30-1:15 PM every day. We do not provide lunch during camp. Please bring your own lunch with plenty of snacks and water to last the full day.
If there are any special medical concerns that the camp staff needs to be aware of, please email Kattie Leito at firstname.lastname@example.org or include them in the sign-up form.
What are office hours?
Office hours (from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM each day) are an additional chance for campers to get one-on-one attention from their instructors and are meant for those students who need extra help or want extra, private practice in their choice event.
NOTE: Office hours are not mandatory and do not cost any extra money.
