Curriculum

Each day includes:

  • two lectures (morning and afternoon)

  • collaborative lab time

  • individual case/blocks writing

  • various drills and mini debates

  • one on one guidance

  • optional office hours

  • practice rounds (days 3, 4, 5)

Congressional Debate

Curriculum

Each day includes:

  • one to two lectures

  • collaborative lab time

  • speech writing & research time

  • drills and procedural advice

  • one on one guidance

  • optional office hours

  • practice chambers (days 3, 4, 5)

If possible, Congressional Debate students will use the Fall 2022 docket for legislation. Students can expect to leave with a base level of prep for up to half the docket. If not, students will use the Spring 2022 docket.

Extemporaneous Speaking

Domestic & International Extemporaneous Speaking

Extemporaneous Speaking

Curriculum

Each day includes:

  • one to two lectures

  • collaborative lab time

  • section specific practice time

  • topic briefings and updates  

  • drills and procedural advice

  • one on one guidance

  • optional office hours

  • practice speeches and round

Extemporaneous Speaking students will use a combination of instructor-created questions and questions from previous high-level tournaments for practice.

Public Speaking

Original Oratory & Informative Speaking

Curriculum

Each day includes:

  • one to two lectures & lab time

  • topic brainstorm sessions

  • guidance from instructors throughout writing process

  • public speaking drills & practice

  • optional office hours

 

Middle schoolers will focus on writing and memorizing an oratory. High schoolers will be introduced to both oratory and informative speaking, and focus on polishing one during the week.

Oral Interpretation

Oral Interpretation

Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, and Program Oral Interpretation

Curriculum

Each day includes:

  • one to two lectures & lab time

  • piece selection sessions

  • guidance from instructors throughout cutting & blocking process

  • optional office hours

 

Middle schoolers will focus on selecting, cutting, and blocking a HI or DI piece. High schoolers will be introduced to Program Oral Interp, and focus on polishing one piece in an event of their choosing during the week.
